View the visual art entries from this year's Community Arts Challenge at the Center for the Arts on Sunday, February 23 from 5-7 pm. The Challenge, which attracted entries from 71 area artists is a fun, unique event and a great way to show your support for the artists of Cortland County. Listen to live music by Bobcat of the Local Farmers Union, including his award winning "Veggies and Beer" (first place, original music category).
The YWCA Cortland will be displaying posters made by YWCA GEMS (Girls, Empowered, Motivated, and Successful). To create the display, the young ladies selected pictures that spoke to each of them about slavery, and the struggles that occurred right through the civil rights movement. They researched, found the photos and compiled the write-up that they wanted hung regarding MLK. A YWCA Advocacy Committee member, Liz Sharp, then took the GEMS’ to view Harriett.
The Dowd Gallery at SUNY Cortland presents an interdisciplinary, international group exhibition, Measured Confluence. The project features works combining physics, fine art, and performance in a collection of three-dimensional objects, installations, drawings, and digital media video installations that introduces artists from the US, the Czech Republic, and Bosnia.
